Live Blog: Pr. George's Co. Executive Rushern Baker
WASHINGTON - Prince George County Executive Rushern Baker was a guest Friday on "The Politics Program" with Mark Plotkin.
Baker followed the announcement Thursday demanding the resignation of County Board member Leslie Johnson, following his guilty plea earlier that day.
"In the best interest of the county, I think it's time to put this chapter behind us," he said.
"The best way to do that is for her to resign from his seat, and for us to hold a special election."
District 6, who is representing Johnson, has a busy future with a new budget to be approved and the next session in 2012, the County Executive said.
Delaying the removal of Johnson's office will leave the seat vacant or almost put his replacement "behind the ball 8" at a very busy.
"I gave (residents) my opinion," he said.
